oUR NEW PORCELAIN PAVING DISPLAYS : GARDEN DESIGNS UNVEILED

The Plan:

The front of our yard is currently used to store York paving, large rocks and stone setts. If you’ve been to our yard you’ll probably remember it’s a pretty large space and we realised we could be using it to make something pretty. So we plan to re-locate this stock elsewhere in the yard and create six separate beautiful gardens that will flow off one main path. Each garden will be designed by a different garden designer with a different ethos behind the layout, plants and paving choices. The brief for all of the plots was to create an inspirational garden that could be re-created by our clients within their own homes. The designers had a real challenge on their hands spatially as the plots aren’t large (each garden being around 8m long and just over 3m wide). But it was one that they dealt with admirably. Now we have the designs in you can see for yourself, feast your eyes:

Plot 1 | Joe Savage Horticulture & Garden Design:

Joe has incorporated the specified Piatto Grey Porcelain Paving as a staggered entrance path with the gaps between tiles filled with our Mendip Chippings the path is then edged with our Black Granite Setts. The path leads you to a seating terrace with walls clad in our StoneClad Black and a lovely coreten fire pit feature. The planting features some height with a birch tree and a Portuguese Laurel to frame the seating area. Further framing is provided by large format porcelain sheets in a dark grey with some contemporary planters placed in front of the screen for colour.

If you like the look of Joe’s work you can see more of what he does on the details below.

Plot 2 | Neil Jones Design

Neil’s relaxed modern design features our Piatto Black Porcelain laid at 45 degrees to make the most of the rectangular plot with a central Millboard deck raised one step to provide interest mid way down the garden and compliment the paving. Three Black stained timber arches alongside the deck provide a strong vertical emphasis, offering some enclosure to the rear garden for casual seating. A raised triangular planter creates further separation to the 2 halves of the garden and brings the planting up to waist height. At the back of the garden the area is semi private for sitting out with a log burner to stay warm into the evening. A rendered wall with pleached trees in front provide screening/privacy to the space within a contemporary style. The garden is designed such that visitors could relate the layout to either a long narrow garden or a wide, shallow plot. Finally the detailing of the garden focuses on the Physical Elements of; Fire – Water – Air – Earth, with the water bowl at the entrance to the garden surrounded by cool flower colours progressing to the fire stove at the rear surrounded by warm foliage and flower colours. The earth is represented by the planting and the whole space is an outdoor room to enjoy the air!

Plot 3 | Room With a View Garden Design

Lisa Potter at Room With a View Garden Design has created the concept for Plot 3. Featuring our new Piatto Beige Porcelain Paving laid in a stack bond format and framed with the textured warm grey tones of our Sawn & Sandblasted Grey Sandstone. This same sandstone is also used to create bench style seating areas at the sides and in the far corners of the garden. A usable lawn space breaks up the paved areas and provides soft texture. This lawn would be low maintenance too as it’s artificial- to be created with Knightsbridge from Easigrass. Height and drama is provided toward the rear of the garden with olive trees in each corner and a Slate Monolith Water Feature at the centre of the rear. Further colour is provided through the use of our Slate Chippings and various plants and shrubs.

Plot 4 is going to be created by our lovely construction team Marvel Paving & Contracting. Dan and his team are creating a space that is inspired by geometric circles – constructed with our Acton Rust Modular Porcelain. Eyes peeled on our social media accounts will reveal more about this one as the build progresses.

Plot 5 | Michelle Brown Garden Design

Plot 5 has been designed by Michelle Brown Garden Design of RHS Chelsea fame. We love working with Michelle as she always brings enthusiasm and interesting ideas to projects. Her artistic eye for detail and combining hard landscaping products with planting always creates beautiful spaces that you want to just hang out in. And this design is no different. The entrance to the garden is framed either side by a semi-pergola constructed with our Oak Sleepers that over hang a path leading to a patio area constructed with our Acton Blue Modular Porcelain Paving. The terrace area is encircled by benches constructed with oak and porcelain. Off the main terrace porcelain ‘timber’ style planks form a series of steps that wrap around a central planting area terminating in a day bed deck. The planting area will contain a feature tree and a small boulder garden with a water feature.
